Why Knot transforms Japanese knotweed from an invasive problem plant into a high-quality material for interiors. The knotweed fibers are combined with a vegetable binder and pressed under pressure and heat into a hard, smooth and natural-feeling furniture panel. The material is colored through and through using natural pigments and shows a characteristic fiber structure.
The panel is suitable for high-quality interior applications, such as furniture, wall panels and design objects.
This means that the value of the KnotWood panel extends beyond the interior. By harnessing the invasive Japanese knotweed as a raw material, Why Knot connects the pursuit of healthy outdoor ecosystems with healthy, natural interiors inside.
