IN PICTURES : The SUPERBio range is growing.
Finding biobased and nature-based interior products was and still is (too) difficult. Therefore, manufacturers can post their manufacturer/studio and product information – free of charge – on the interior product platform 'superbios.nl'. The demand side – interior architects, designers, buyers, etc. – can then easily explore more and more biobased and nature-based interior products!
Read below about this month's newcomers and find the complete range at superbios.nl . We'd love to receive ideas, project inspiration, and comments that can benefit the development of sustainable interior architecture. SUPERBio founder Wilma Dijkgraaf-Hofmeijer understands the supply and demand sides, is an aesthetician, and ensures the necessary connections and practical implementation.

'FIG' stands for 'figure' – a name that embodies a free and experimental vision of form, function and use. Ruben and Gijs found each other in their fascination for materials, craftsmanship and love of nature during their studies at the ArtEZ art academy in Arnhem.
What does the Atelier Fig collection consist of?
Since their inception, Atelier Fig has primarily created innovative designs and is a sought-after exhibitor at renowned galleries. Inspired by the wonder of creation and human interaction, Fig embraces research, collaboration, and the endless possibilities where technology and craftsmanship converge. Atelier Fig. focuses on ceramics—exploring applications for building facades—and on the modular "Frame Cabinets" system, based on FSC beechwood. Crafted from beautiful beechwood, each component is precision-machined into 2.5 x 2.5 cm beams.

Present at the SPRBio'S Collective stand during Dutch Design Week
For SUPERBio's participation in DDW '25, Fig is creating the hanging section from a material that fits within the context of biobased construction. To achieve this, they are collaborating with Belgian designer and glassblower Jeffe of Studio Franche, whose expertise lies in using recycled materials from industrial environments. The capsule will be made of reinforced glass salvaged from old factory buildings.
What would you advise designers and buyers to do or avoid ?
The world revolves around efficiency, speed, and preferably meeting expectations. But it's the world outside that amazes us and can inspire people and employees, making spaces more pleasant and distinctive.
How do you respond when clients tell you your objects and furniture are too expensive to include in projects?
We understand that our objects are an investment. We often explain that our prices cover not only the materials but also the meticulous craftsmanship, unique design, and developed techniques that make each piece special. For many clients, this proves to be an added value: the work adds character and distinction to a project and can often serve as a talking point or eye-catcher. Furthermore, we are open to customizations or alternatives wherever possible, ensuring it fits within the project's budget without compromising the quality or concept.
What do you hope to have made progress in within a few years?
Thanks to the modular frame of the Cabinet furniture, unique, custom designs can be created for every project. Within a few years, we hope to continue developing our crafts and material experiments, expand collaborations, and make our handmade objects accessible to both projects and a wider audience, without compromising on quality.
EDITOR'S NOTE: You can also get to know Gijs Wouters and Ruben Hoogvliet of Atelier Fig. better at Voertaal Studio 's Pop-Up Restaurant at the upcoming Dutch Design Week. Tables decorated with interior products courtesy of Atelier Fig.
